County looking for Veterans Service Officer

Last week, the Lyon County approved a County Veterans Services Office Operational Enhancement Grant for $10,000 from the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs.

The grant will be used to enhance operations of the Veterans Service Office. They also approved a “Job Description” and advertisement of the open position of Veterans Service Officer for Lyon County.

County Administrator Loren Stomberg said he is talking with other surrounding counties regarding the possibility of sharing a Veterans Service Office.

However, he also indicated there is enough work for a full-time VSO. He said he didn’t see the “sharing” option as practical at this time.
