Lyon County absentee voting is still available

The Lyon County Auditor/Treasurer’s office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for absentee voting.

Absentee voting started on Friday, June 29 and continues through Monday, August 13. The Auditor/Treasurer’s office will also be open for Absentee Voting on Saturday, August 11, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and will be open until 5 p.m. on Monday, August 13.

Mail Ballot Precincts and Procedures Sixteen of the thirty-three precincts in Lyon County have elected to vote by mail ballot procedure.

Mail ballot precincts include the cities of Florence, Garvin, Ghent, and Taunton and the townships of Amiret, Coon Creek, Custer, Eidsvold, Fairview, Grandview, Lake Marshall, Lucas, Shelburne, Sodus, Stanley, and Vallers. Ballots will be mailed to registered voters within mail ballot precincts on July 9.

Each voter registered by July 24 will be mailed a ballot automatically as the County will mail ballots between July 9 and 31st.

All ballots may be returned by mail (a postage prepaid return envelope is included with the ballots are mailed), or may be delivered in person, or delivered by a designated agent to the Lyon County Auditor/Treasurer’s office on the second floor of the Lyon County Government Center at 607 West Main St. in Marshall.

Ballots must be received no later than 8 p.m. on election day in order to be counted.

The polling place for mail ballot precincts for this election is the Auditor/Treasurer’s office and polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, August 14.
