MFBF Serves on Panel during Farmers for Free Trade Events

Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation (MFBF) President Kevin Paap and MFBF District IV Board Representative Nathan Collins participated in the Farmers for Free Trade events held in Minnesota today.

President Paap served on the panel at the Hoffman Dairy Farm near New Ulm, and Nathan Collins participated in the event held at the CNH plant in Benson.

MFBF’s message was to support trade and specifically to finish the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).

“Once you lose a market it is really hard to get it back,” said MFBF President Paap as he spoke about the importance of trade and specifically reinforced the importance of USMCA.

“We grow more than we can use in the United States. Nearly 96 percent of the world lives outside the U.S. boarders. Trade is extremely important to us.”

“With nearly 24 percent of our agricultural products exported to Mexico and over 24 percent exported to Canada, we need to get the USMCA trade deal done now,” said Paap.

“Farmers are running out of patience. We need these markets and certainty as we head into a new growing season.”
