A Mountain Lion here?

City Police Chief Bill Bolt reported last week the citing of a Mountain Lion in Minneota. “I believe there was a young mountain lion roaming our area last week,” he said.

“It was seen at the Minneota burn site,” said the chief. Some spectators said they saw the lion in the snow near the burn site.

“He appeared to be sunning himself and he wasn’t bothered by people going by,” said Caryn Hetland of Minneota.

Witnesses saw it run and said it is about the size of a small lab with a very long tail.

“There was no need for alarm,” said the chief of police.

“They have been known to be in the area and can travel long distances. It is good advice to keep any eye on your pets and avoid contact if you see one.”

“I suspect it hung around for a few days and moved on.

It was most likely hunting for deer or raccoons,” said the Chief of Police.

Recently, a night vision device photographed an animal that seemed to match pretty much the same description in the Jackson County Area.

It’s not known if this was the same animal or another mountain lion that roamed in that area for a brief time.
