Property Tax Payments Due May 15

The first half of 2017 property taxes are due on Monday, May 15.

Payments for Lyon County properties can be dropped off at the Auditor/Treasurer’s office on the 2nd floor of the Lyon County Government Center at 607 West Main Street in Marshall during business hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

For faster service please bring or send your tax statement stub or write the parcel number on your check. You may also place payment in the drop box near the parking lot behind the Government Center off South 7th Street.

The drop box allows you to provide payment after hours, avoid lines, and to save on postage. If you prefer to pay by mail, your envelope must be postmarked May 15 or before, or Minnesota statute requires a penalty be imposed.

Mail is currently postmarked in the Twin Cities, not locally. The postmark date is important – mail early. Credit and debit card payments are available on the County website at www.lyonco.org/taxstmt or in person at the Auditor/Treasurer’s office.

Card users will be charged a convenience fee by the vendor. Lyon County also offers a direct payment plan for property taxes. Sign up now for use of the plan for second half and beyond.

Upon completion and submission of the authorization form found on the Lyon County website, the Lyon County Auditor/Treasurer’s Office will automatically deduct your tax payment from your account on the applicable property tax due date. Additional information and a sign-up form are online at www.lyonco.org/tax-information.
