Science and Nature Conference held May 9

On May 9, SWWC held its 24th Annual Science and Nature Conference at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall.

The conference attracted over 1,450 participants in grades kindergarten through eighth grade and their chaperones.

Mike Billington from the University of Minnesota Raptor Center started the day by sharing a few of his feathered friends, including a falcon, an owl and an eagle.

After the keynote presentation, student attended three small group sessions. Students were engineering their own rollercoasters; playing tree trivia, learning about insects that live in our rivers, building scribble bots, practicing emergency room scenarios and trauma alert, planting their own seeds, learning kitchen chemistry, and so much more.

Students came from public schools, non-public schools and home-schools.

They included students from Minneota.
