Thief chased away by the car owner

Tuesday night, Minneota Police Chief Bill Bolt reported, “At approximately 9:50 p.m., the Minneota Police Department was dispatched to the Minneota Public School for a person who was chasing a suspected thief.”

“Upon arrival, Chief Bolt and Deputy Joel Walerius learned that a homeowner from N. Grant Street had seen a person rummaging through their unlocked vehicle.”

The chief indicated, “The homeowner chased the suspect through several yards, across school property and lost sight of him behind homes in the 600 block of N. Monroe Street.”

Officers checked the area by vehicle and on foot but did not locate the suspect.

“Thefts from vehicles is easily preventable by removing items of value and locking the doors,” said Chief Bolt.
