Main Cafe sold to former Minneota resident Roebuck
The Main Cafe, which was a short time ago bought by G.O. Everson, has been sold again, this time to Ray Roebuck of Canby. The new proprietor will take charge on the first of next month. Mr. Roebuck is a former resident of Minneota, having been here some years ago as an employee of the local cigar factory.

Creamery gets excellent marks at recent stockholders meeting
A very well attended and very satisfactory annual meeting of the Minneota Creamery was held last Friday. The creamery is doing exceptionally good business and they are now out of debt and making good money. The local farmers are standing by the creamery and giving it their business as never before.

Stores to stay open Saturday nights beginning March 6
Minneota business places, which have been closed Saturday evenings during the past two months, will remain open those nights beginning on March 6. The stores will be open for business until 9 p.m., a member of the Minneota Businessmen's Association closing committee reported.

New six-team baseball league formed for summer
A six-team baseball league, which will be known as the Border League, was formed by representatives at a meeting in Canby on Monday evening. Five of the teams in the newly-formed league, Minneota, Canby, Porter, Hansonville and Clarkfield, belonged to the Golden Valley League last year. The new addition this year is Ghent. Marshall, a member of last year's league, did not join up at Monday's meeting but may do so in the future. Leonard Allen, the manager of the Minneota baseball team, attended the meeting with last year's managers Orval Spanton and E.F. McMillin.

Father Pearson named priest at St. Leo parish
The Catholic parish at St. Leo now has a new priest. On Feb. 14, Father John A. Pearson became pastor of the Church of St. Leo. Father Pearson was born in Tracy and completed his high school education in Balaton. His studies in philosophy and theology were taken at St. John's University in Collegeville. His ordination to the priesthood was on May 28, 1966.

Ten St. Edward's students win piano contest in New Ulm
Ten piano students, who attend St. Edward's School, received winning scores in the District Piano Contest held at Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm on Feb. 24. The winners were: Mary Rabaey, Lois Bot, Sandy Wambeke, Pamela Bot, Doris Konold, Margaret Rabaey, Suzie Tillemans, Bruce Bot, Fred Rabaey, and Jennifer Bot. These students are now eligible to participate in the state piano contest March 24 at the University of Minnesota.

Minneota firemen receive calls for two farm blazes
The Minneota Fire Department received calls for two fires during the past week. The first call was to the Richard Gorecki farm home during the noon hour this past Sunday and the other was to the Roseville Josephson farm home at noon on Monday. Firemen who answered the calls reported no great damage done by the two blazes. The Gorecki farm is located seven miles west of Minneota and the fire started in hay bales around a fuel tank near the house. The Josephson farm is five miles northwest of Minneota and the call there was for a hose to an acetylene welding torch that broke loose.

Eischens medals at state wrestling tournament
Ross Eischens placed sixth at the state wrestling tournament this past weekend. Eischens, wrestling at heavyweight, went 3-2 at the tournament and received the sixth-place medal. He finished the season with a 32-6 record. John Myhre wrestled at the state tournament at 152 pounds and Josh Sanow wrestled at 160 pounds. Myhre finished the season 37-3 and Sanow finished 32-4.

City Council updated by North Memorial Ambulance
Buck McAlpin, a representative from North Memorial Ambulance Service, was present at the regularly scheduled monthly Minneota City Council meeting. Mr. McAlpin gave a summary of how the ambulance service is faring during the first year of their providing service to the community. McAlpin said they figured there would be an operating loss of $11,000 for the first year, but that it actually came in at only $9,000. There are 14 ambulance attendants on staff.
