Alice Abraham
Alice M. Abraham, age 87, of St. Leo, MN passed away Monday, March 15, 2021 at her home in St. Leo. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 20, 2021 at the St. Leo Catholic Church, St. Leo, MN. Burial was held in the St. Leo Catholic Cemetery. Visitation was held 5 – 7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Prayer Service with Rosary to follow on Friday, March 19, 2021 at the Houseman Funeral Home, Birk Chapel in Canby, MN. Alice Marie Abraham was born to Wayne and Gertrude (Schoener) Schacherer on April 8, 1933 in Lac Qui Parle County, Minnesota. She attended Hamlin Consolidated School District 28, in Lac Qui Parle County. She was united in marriage to Lambert Abraham on April 27, 1963. From this union four children were born: Bruce, Melissa, Rodney and Thomas, which they raised on the family farm near St. Leo, MN. Alice was known for her cooking and baking, and for passing those treasured recipes down to her daughter and granddaughters, especially her famous chocolate and lemon dessert. She also had a love of reading which she passed down to her children and grandchildren. Alice was very active on the family farm. She was always ready and willing to get behind the wheel of a tractor or help wherever it was needed. Alice was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church where she held various positions with the parish. Near and dear to Alice’s heart were her eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She enjoyed attending all of their activities. Whether it was checking to see if they made their drive back to college safe and sound, or just to call and visit, she was always interested in what they were doing. She really enjoyed a game of rummy with them and all the laughs that went along with it. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Lambert Abraham; St. Leo, MN; daughter, Melissa (Ken) Muhl, Taunton, MN; two sons: Rodney (Ann) Abraham, Minneota, MN and Thomas (Kimberlie) Abraham, Minneota, MN; 11 grandchildren: Austin (Whitney) Muhl, Shayna (Chris) Schreiber, Ashlynn, Danica and Mariah Muhl, Blake (fiancee Nicole), Grant and Ross Abraham, Emily, Natalie and Landon Abraham; seven great grandchildren: Wyatt and Dawson Muhl, Nevaeh, Addilyn, Amyah and Creed Schreiber and Averi Hennen; five brothers: Wayne Schacherer, Laurens, IA, Allan Schacherer, Dawson, MN, John Schacherer, Annandale, MN, Jeff Schacherer, Hastings, MN and Harold Schacherer, Boyd, MN; six sisters: Eileen Rosik, Lakeville, MN, Virginia Schoen, Glen Burnie, MD, Glenice Myers, Columbus, GA, Muriel Bach, Canby, MN, Carol Andrews, Jordan, MN and Mary Smith, Wabasso, MN; and many nieces and nephews. Alice was preceded in death by her infant son, Bruce; parents, Wayne and Gertrude Schacherer; infant brother, Michael; brother, Don Schacherer and sister, Lois Franson.
