Clara Biranowski

Clara Biranowski, 95, passed away on Friday, April 21 at the Hendricks Nursing Home.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 24 at St. John Cantius Catholic Church in Wilno.

Burial was in the church cemetery. Clara Biranowski was born June 18, 1921 in Marble Township in Lincoln County, MN the daughter of Joseph and Agnes (Friske) Citterman.

She was baptized, received her First Communion and was confirmed at St. John Cantius Catholic Church in Wilno, MN. As a girl, she attended the rural county school. On October 20, 1952, she married John Biranowski at St. John Cantius Catholic Church.

She was a loving mother, raising her children, gardening vegetables and flowers and sewing for her children. When the children were out of the home, she worked at the Divine Providence Hospital in the Laundry Department.

At this time in her life, she started quilting. She made hundreds of quilts for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

For several years, she would donate a quilt to be raffled for Wilno July 4 celebrations.

She is survived by her daughters Mary (Jim) Thooft of Lake Benton, MN, Rose (Richard) O’Brien of Lehi, UT, Dorothy (Randy) Sprik of Edgerton, MN, Frances (Dan) Swedzinski of Milroy, MN and Lorraine Biranowski of Moorhead, MN, 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Her siblings, brothers Ferdinard Citterman of Sleepy Eye, MN, Emil Citterman, Raymond Citterman and Clemance Citterman of Ivanhoe, MN, sisters, Esther Hoffman of St. Leo, MN, Bernice Chlub of Texas, Evelyn Panka and Leona Hauschild of Ivanhoe, MN and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Agnes and brother Ambrose.
