Herman “Junior” Esping, Jr. was born November 21, 1924 to Herman and Gusta (Bakken) Esping, Sr. on the family farm that his father homesteaded near Taunton, Minnesota.

He was raised on the family farm and graduated from Canby High School.

Junior entered the United States Army and served during the Korean Conflict.

He was united in marriage to Doreen “Reenie” Welvaert on March 26, 1955.

Following their marriage they lived on the family farm where he farmed most of his life.

His farming included dairy, stock cattle, pigs, chicken and grain.

In retirement, he continued his craft with a grand garden that was most famous for his tomatoes, potatoes, corn and raspberries.

He was very passionate about his farm throughout his life and was clever at jerry-rigging repairs. He taught us all so much along the way.

Junior liked his chocolate, chocolate milk and chocolate ice cream, homemade bread, raspberry jam and he loved his butter!

He was a loyal Canby Wrestling fan and supporter.

He was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church in Porter. He always greeted everyone with a warm smile. He lived his life with great honor, humor and grace.

He loved his wife “Reenie” of 62 years with all his heart and gave his all to her and his children his entire life.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Doreen “Reenie” Esping, Taunton; three children: Luanne (Ken) Eatwell, Randy (Deb) Esping and Trish (Terry) Koussis; six grandchildren: Matt Esping, Steve Esping, Andrew Hokanson, John Koussis, Chris Koussis and Sagen Eatwell; great-grandchildren: Emily Esping, Lydia Esping, Melina Warner, Oakley Esping, Laken Esping, Finlee Esping, Blaine O’Dell, August Hokanson and Graham Hokanson.
