Jolene Moen

Jolene Marie Moen, 71 of Sioux Falls, SD died Monday, December 5, 2022 at Ava’s House in Sioux Falls, SD. Visitation with the family present will be held from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 10, 2022 at George Boom Funeral Home and On-Site Crematory. Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 10, 2022 at George Boom Funeral Home and On-Site Crematory.
 Jo was born on September 7,1951, in Sheldon, IA to Bernard and Phyllis (Frederking) Rensink. Jo was raised and educated in Dawson, MN. She graduated from Dawson High School in 1969. Jo studied Cosmetology at Wilmar Vo Tech, graduating in the spring of 1970.
Jo met Douglas Moen and the two were married on November 7, 1971, in Dawson, MN. The couple moved to Hawaii for two years while Doug was serving in the United States Navy. They then moved to Wilmar in 1973 and later to Minneota, MN in 1975 where they resided for over 40 years. 
Jo had the pleasure of operating “Jo’s Beauty Shop” out of her own home in Minneota, until her retirement in 2017. She enjoyed getting to know her many clients and growing her business throughout the years. Doug and Jo moved to Sioux Falls in 2017 to be closer to their two daughters, Jana and Tara. Diagnosed with end-stage renal disease, Jo started dialysis that same year.
Jo enjoyed many things in life such as going to the lake, bowling, watching Doug’s softball games, socializing, entertaining and going to the casino with her friends. Above all, Jo cherished the time she spent with her family and friends, including her grandchildren and grand-pups. Jo loved her friends and neighbors like family, and was the best at remembering birthdays and anniversaries of so many.
Jo is survived by her loving husband, Doug Moen of Sioux Falls, SD; daughters, Jana (Chad) Erickson of Sioux Falls, SD, Tara Moen of Sioux Falls, SD; grandchildren, Cole and Mila Erickson; brother, Jeff (Joan) Rensink of Mobile, AL; brothers-in-law, Lon Moen of Boyd, MN, Don Wiegers of Alexandria, MN; sister-in-law, Wendy (Jeff) Nieuwbeerta of Alexandria, MN; nieces, Jennifer and Julie Rensink; numerous nieces and nephews on the Moen side.
Jo was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jerry Rensink; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Milo and Marvel Moen; sisters-in-law, Dianne Wiegers and Sue Moen.
