Kathleen “Kathy” C. Benedict passed away from complications brought on by multiple sclerosis (MS) on Dec. 1, 2021, at the age of 78. She passed away in her Burnsville home, surrounded by her loving family.
After more than 20 years in a wheelchair, Kathy is now walking with her Lord. She was born to John and Elva Kopitski on Jan. 26, 1943. She lived on the family farm in Taunton and attended Minneota High School.
Kathy moved to Minneapolis in 1964 and began working at First National Bank. She met her husband, LeWayne, in 1966; they married in 1967 and began raising a family shortly after. Kathy’s greatest joy was her family. She enjoyed spending time with her four sons and eight grandchildren.
Her generosity and kindness were surpassed only by her strength and courage in her fight with MS. Her life and presence in this world will be missed beyond measure.
Kathy is survived by her husband of 54 years, LeWayne; sons Ryan (Leah), Evan (Sara), Erik (Kasia), and Scott; grandchildren Matthew, Jakub, McKayla, Luke, Carter, Isaac, Adisen, and Joshua; brother Jack (Karol) Kopitski; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Dec. 9 from 5-8 p.m. at White Funeral Home, 12804 Nicollet Ave, Burnsville. Funeral services will beheld Friday, Dec. 10 from 11-12 p.m. with visitation one hour before at Mary Mother of the Church, 3333 Cliff Rd, Burnsville; luncheon immediately to follow. Burial will be Monday, Dec. 13 at 12:30 p.m. at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
