Larry Martin Sharp was born on Aug. 24, 1943 in Tyler, MN to Calvin and Margaret (Fezler) Sharp. He grew up in Tyler and graduated from Tyler High School. Upon graduation, Larry enlisted and served in the US Army in what he called “Overseas Milwaukee”. At times he returned home via hitch-hiking always trusting in other people’s generosity. His dedication to penny-pinching was widely known, to the extent of being able to purchase his prized Ford Mustang upon his honorable discharge. After his Army career, Larry farmed for a brief period before moving, for a short time, to the Twin Cities where he began doing construction work.
While in the Twin Cities he met Jeanette Adelman whom he married on April 22, 1967.
Larry and Jeanette returned to the Tyler area where Larry experimented with several job opportunities before settling on construction. His employer, Robert L. Carr worked on the college in Marshall, and built residential homes. After his residential construction experience, Larry was convinced he could build his own home which he completed in 1979. Wanting to gain more knowledge of construction, he completed a course in blue print reading allowing him to become a project manager for Robert L. Carr & KHS construction. Larry worked diligently and consistently displayed the ability to figure out issues, earning him the position of job leader.
Larry enjoyed tinkering, fishing, family reunions, family gatherings and special occasions. Larry always enjoyed a good joke and knew the importance of laughing and having fun.
Larry died on Thursday Feb. 9, 2023, at the Franklin Restorative Care Center in Franklin, MN.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Sharp of Minneota, children Bryon (and Jennifer) Sharp, Debra (and Ted) Edson, Rebecca (and Ryan) Kirksey, Martin (and Erin) Sharp, 11 grandchildren, siblings Gary (and Dolly) Sharp, Cathy Gilbertson, Sheri Sharp, Deanna (and Jim) Dhaene, Barry (and Diane) Sharp, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Terry, Kevin and Perry.
The family requests that memorials be sent to U.S. American Legion Post 199 on his behalf.
