Lawrence Henry Moorse was born in 1930, March 31, in Minneota to Harry and Lucy (Koltze) Moorse. He grew up on the family farm, attended District 77 country school, St. Edward Catholic School, and graduated from Minneota High School in 1948. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Edward Catholic Church in Minneota. From 1951-53, he served in the U.S. Army 79th Engineers Construction Battalion in Korea. In 1954, he and LaVonne Lanoue were married at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. Following their marriage, they made their home first in Minneota and eventually in Marshall where they raised their 5 children.

After serving and being honorably discharged from the Army, he was employed by his mentor, K.P. Kompelien and Hi-Way Surfacing. In 1970, he purchased this company and owned and operated Hi-Way Surfacing and Moorse Sand and Gravel with his 4 sons and daughter until 1987, when he sold his business and became employed by McLaughlin and Schulz Construction of Marshall until his retirement in 2007.

Lawrence was a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, VFW, Southwest Sports, Catholic Order of Foresters, and Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, where he ushered and served on the Parish Council. His faith was a central part of his life. He dearly loved his family and cherished his time with them. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, especially flowers, all living things and Louis Lamour paperbacks. He had a lifelong love-hate relationship with the Minnesota Vikings and never missed watching those games.

Lawrence died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at the Prairie Home Hospice McLaughlin House in Marshall. Survivors include his wife of 67 years LaVonne, sons Ron (Linda) of Minneapolis, Jim (Becky) of Denver, Chuck (Penny) of Eagan and daughter Lori (Bob) Radecki of St. Paul, 11 wonderful grandchildren, 12 adorable great-grandchildren, brother Frank (Marie) and numerous nieces and nephews, and grandnieces and nephews.
