Nancy Pennings

Nancy Belle Pennings, 66, died Tuesday, January 16 at St. Cloud Hospital from complications of Interstitial Lung Disease, (No, she was not a smoker!)

A funeral service to celebrate Nancy's life will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, January 22, at First Presbyterian in Holland, MN. 

Interment will follow the service at the Holland Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m., Saturday, January 20 at Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud.

She was born in Pipestone, on March 10, 1951 during a blizzard, an event that would forever shape her life to strive for warmer climates. 

She grew up in Holland, MN and graduated from high school in 1969.

She went on to obtain a Cosmetology degree from Stewart's School of Hair Styling in Sioux Falls, SD and worked in Marshall, MN. 

On November 3, 1973, she married Arthur William "Bill" Pennings in Holland at First Presbyterian Church. 

They moved to Fergus Falls, MN and they worked for the county treasurer. While there, they had two children, Cale and Kirk. In 1981, they moved to St. Cloud. 

She worked for Independent Information, Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, and for a period, operated a private daycare service.  She also dabbled in antiques and had a space at the Buffalo Nickel in Buffalo, MN.  Her true passion though, was acting as entertainment director for her friends and family.

In 2006, they purchased a second home in Sun Lakes, AZ and became primary residents in 2015, still spending the summer months in the St. Cloud area. 

She was a charter member of the Central MN Noon Optimist Club and served in many roles including President in 1993-94, attaining Distinguished President status.  She also was a proud member of DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution).

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Bill, and sons Cale (Sarah) of Duluth, MN, Kirk (Becky) of St. Paul, MN and five grandchildren, Connor, Belle, Arthur, Francis, and Jane; sisters, Ginny of Marshall, MN, Marlyce (Dave) Logan of Pipestone, MN and Sun Lakes, AZ, Doreen (Marly) Taubert of Pipestone, MN; brothers Richard Van Dyke of Lynd, MN and Brad Van Dyke of Pipestone, MN, plus many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Andy and Isabelle Van Dyke, Bill and Nettie Berkenpas, parents Marlin "Bud" Van Dyke & Dorothy (Van Dyke) Roemeling, and step-father, Don Roemeling.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, PBS (Public Broadcasting System), or the charity of your choice.
