Nancy Swenson

1941-2024

Nancy Deanne Swenson, 83, died on April 22, 2024, of complications from a heart attack.
Nancy was born March 22, 1941, to Elmer and Gloria (Wigness) Meade of Canby. Elmer died in 1943 and Gloria married Robert Kjorness in 1945. Nancy graduated from Minneota High School in 1959. She and Bryan Swenson were married September 24, 1960, and had two sons, Jeffery and Mark.
Nancy had a variety of jobs, including apartment management with Bryan, before retiring from Food Perspectives. She also worked at her local Curves gym. She enjoyed cheering for the local sports teams, especially the Twins. She loved visiting her family in Connecticut and San Francisco, as well as vacationing with them to places such as London, Hawaii, Virginia Beach and Mexico.
A longtime parishioner at Elim Lutheran Church, she was involved in groups such as altar guild, bible study and meal services. She remained friends with her high school pals from Minneota and often attended class reunions.
Survivors include her son Mark Swenson; daughter-in-law Laura Swenson; granddaughters Amanda (Zachary) Boyer and Molly (Samantha Kam) Swenson; great-grandson Christian Boyer; sisters Dorene Obi and Karin Elton; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bryan, son Jeff and sisters Janel Kjorness and Robin Chandler.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior on Saturday, May 11, at Elim Lutheran Church in Robbinsdale. Memorials in Nancy’s name can be made to the church.
