Richard 'Dick' Stoks

Richard “Dick” Stoks, age 76 of Shakopee, Minnesota, passed away from cancer on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.

Visitation was held on Sunday, April 8 from 1-4 p.m. at NcNearney-Schmidt Funeral and Cremation in Shakopee.

Visitation was also held on Monday, April 9 from 10-10:45 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at the Parish of Saints Joachim and Anne in the Church of St. Mark in Shakopee.

Interment took place at the Catholic Cemetery in Shakopee. Dick was born in Porter, Minnesota, on June 28, 1941 to William Stoks and Madeleine Tramaseur.

He was the youngest of 11 children. Dick graduated from Minneota Senior High School.

As a young adult, Dick worked construction for his brother Henry and then attended the Gale Institute for Mechancial Drafting in Minneapolis.

Dick and Jeanette Marie Winter were childhood friends, living down the road from one another and became high school sweethearts.

Dick and Jeanette were married on January 18, 1960 at St. Edward Catholic Church in Minneota.

Dick worked as a draftsman in Minneapolis, Red Wing and Rochester, Minnesota before moving his family to Shakopee in 1966.

There Dick continued work as a draftsman and eventually worked for Baker Pools selling and designing swimming pools.

He later started his own company, Olympic Pools. Dick was a very active member of the community and a member of many clubs in town, including the Shakopee Lions Club, Jaycees and Knights of Columbus.

He also served on the Park & Recreation Board, as a Cub Scot Master and Trustee for the Parish of St. Mark and the Parish of Saints Joachim and Anne.

Dick is survived by his loving wife Jeanette; sons, Jeff (Peggy), Dan (Kelly) and Greg; grandchildren, Jenna (Brian) Ragsdale, Allison (Chris) Grieger and Rachel, Jessilyn and Justin, Emily and Madison; great-grandchildren, Micah, Sarah, Elijah, Gracie and Ella Ragsdale and Cameron Grieger; siblings, Dorothy Cull, Mary (Francis) VanHecke, Vincent (LaVonne), Lorraine (Hank) Goblish; sister-in-law Rita; many, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was precded in death by his parents, William and Madeleine; siblings, Margaret Cull, Henry, Harold, Frances VandenBroecke, Donald and Willie.
