C/M girls capture sub-section crown

The Canby/Minneota girls outpointed BOLD/Buffalo Lake-Hector 127 to 123.5 to capture the Sub-section 3A East title Thursday in Montevideo.
The girls had 127 points to BOLD/Buffalo Lake-Hector's 123.5. Redwood Valley was third with 94 points.
The top four in each event, plus wildcards which are the next top four from the three combined sub-sections. Canby/Minneota had five girls advance in various events as wildcards.
In all, Canby/Minneota advanced girls in 18 events and all relays to the Section 3A meet on Thursday, June 2 at Pipestone.
The Canby/Minneota boys, who finished fourth as a team, advanced participants in 10 events and three of the four relays, including wildcards in one individual event and one relay team.
Redwood Valley won the boys' meet with 132 points. BOLD/Buffalo Lake-Hector was second with 95 points, Lakeview third with 89 and Canby/Minneota fourth with 84.
C/M girls placing first in their events were Braelyn Merritt in the 400 dash, Claire Stoks in the 1600 run, Aidyn Bruns in the high jump, and the 4 x 200 and 4 x 400 relay teams.
For the C/M boys, Trevor Gray was first in the 400 dash and also in the high jump, while Kolton Duis won the 3200 run.
The Section 3A meet will be held Thursday, June 2 beginning at 2 p.m. at Pipestone.
