Fier, Bradley named Minneota Offensive, Defensive MVP’s

The state champion Minneota Vikings held their football banquet Monday night with Zack Fier named Offensive Most Valuable Player and Parker Bradley named Defensive MVP.
The Vikings defeated Springfield 38-21 in the Class A state championship on xxx at U.S. Bank Stadium.
Captains Zack Fier, Peyton Gillund, Anthony Rybinski and Max Rost were recognized and named next season’s captains were seniors Max Rost, Sawyer DeSmet and Alex DePestel, and Bradley, a junior.
Zack Fier, a senior, ran for 1,501 yards this season, 12th on the all-time Minneota list. His 1,966 career rushing yards ranks 15th all-time. Isaac Pohlen, a senior, finished his career with 3,354 passing yards, ninth all-time. His 36 career TD passes is seventh most all-time. Peyton Gillund’s 59 points scored this season ranks fifth all-time, and his 177 career points is the second most in Minneota football history. Gillund’s 54 receptions this season ranks 15th all-time.
Earning the MVP Teammate award was Joe Verschelde, while Bradley received the Hardest Worker award, and Eli Gruenes earned the Most Improved Player award.
The Junior Varsity Offensive and Defensive Most Valuable Players’s for the 2022 season were Brock Fier and Kyler Lozinski.
Andrew Lipinski received the “Viking” award.
Those selected to the All-Southwest District team were Gillund, Zack Fier, DePestel and Bradley. Isaac Pohlen and Sawyer DeSmet received honorable mention. Gillund was chosen the Speial Teams Most Valuable Player in the Southwest District.
Named to the All-Southwest District All-Academic team from Minneota this season were Evan Popowski, Michael Popowski, Devyn Hansen, Desmet, Lipinski and Rost.
