Carter Wente took the baton from Cole VanOverbeke and put all his effort into his portion of the relay.

FIVE SCHOOL TRACK RECORDS BROKEN

"I can't express enough how proud we are of all the efforts and performances – many personal records were set Thursday," said Sara Hemish.



She added, "We also broke five school records!"



They were: Girls 4×4 – 4:06.25 previous record (which they recently set) was 4:12.79 – their performance earned them a trip to the state meet.  The girls are Grace Drietz, Lizzy Gillingham, Braelyn Merritt and RyAnn Hansen. The record coming into the season was 4:12.91 set 2009.



Girls Pole Vault – Coming into this year the record was 7’6″ set in 2014- Delaney Houseman and Makenzie Hemish both beat that record….. Houseman went 8-6 Thursday to tie mark from last week and Makenzie finished with 9 —  for the current record.



Boys 4×1 – The boys beat last year’s record of 45.19 with a time of 45.08. Team members: Cameron Anderson, Jaden Kindopp, Cole VanOverbeke, Carter Wente.



Boys 4×2 – The boys advance to state by beating the qualifying standard with a new record of 1:32.01 – our record set last year was a 1:33.35. Team members: Cole VanOverbeke, Jaden Kindopp, Jared Josephson, Carter Wente.



Boys 4×4: The boys 4×4 record of 3:34.05 set in 2015 was broken yesterday with a time of 3:31.60. Team members: Jalyn Ufkin, Cole VanOverbeke, AJ Josephson, Jared Josephson.



Grace Drietz also qualified for the state meet in both the 800 and 1600 meter run.



Carter Wente won the section in the 110 Hurdles for the third straight year to advance to the state meet.



IN OTHER awards:

Both the boys and girls have earned the Gold Status (3.75 GPA or better) in the Coaches’ Association Academic All-State Team. The boys had a 3.84 and the girls 3.88.



We also have several that earn individual Academic All-State Award.  To receive this you must maintain a 3.6 GPA or better (grades 9-12 only) and qualify for state, win your conference event, or meet a qualifying mark set by the Coaches Association. Here is the link with the qualifying standards (it says 2015 but is still the one they use). Please let me know if I forget someone – grades 7-8 are not eligible.
