Junior Legion rebounds from tough loss

After a frustrating 18-0 loss to Madison, the Minneota Junior Legion bounced back Tuesday with an 11-1, five-inning victory over Dawson.

Jacob Hennen smashed a triple, double and single and knocked in three runs as he led newly-named Minneota Vultures. A two-run single to left-center field by Thor Fischer keyed a five-run rally in the third inning.

The Vultures put the game away with four more in the fifth with a run-scoring single by Tate Walerius and a booming double to right by Hennen to knock in two runs.

Grady Moorse pitched the distance for Minneota, allowing just four hits while fanning five and walking just three batters. He also had a pair of hits and knocked in two runs.

Sam Buysse scored three runs for the Vultures. The Vultures are now 2-1 on the year and will host Canby Friday and will be at Madison on Tuesday.

Both are 6 p.m. games.
