Lac qui Parle Valley takes eight-stroke lead in Sections

Minneota girs have a lot of ground to make up.

Minneota’s girls' golfers are in a tough spot after the first day of Section 3A action Wednesday.
While the top four teams will come back next Wednesday to determine an entrant to the state, Lac qui Parle Valley has an eight-stroke lead over Minneota, 347 to 356.
The third place team is Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa, another 11 strokes behind Minneota. The fourth team to qualify for next Wedneday’s showdown was Ortonville with a 384.
Individually, Rachel Halverson of Lac qui Parle Valley and Heidi Guttormsson of Minneota each shot an 81 to share co-medalist honors.
But Laq qui Parle Valley had Abby Stender in third at 83 and Izebelle Stender in eighth with a 91.
Minneota’s next best was Brooklynn Downing in sixth with an 89 with Nicole Evers tied with Sarah Halvorson of Lac qui Parle Valley and Mykayla Rasset of Ortonville with a 92.
Minneota’s fourth best was Laura Knutson, tied for 13th place with a 94.
