Minneota is 3A top seed

Minneota, the top-ranked team in Class A, received the top seed as expected for the Section 3A tournament slated to begin on Thursday.

All the quarterfinal games will be held in Montevideo, while the semifinals and final will be held at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall. The Vikings (25-1) will face the winner of Thursday’s first-round game between No. 8 MACCRAY and No. 9 Dawson-Boyd in the upper-bracket quarterfinals at 11 a.m. on Saturday in Montevideo.

No. 5 Canby will play No. 4 Yellow Medicine East at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, followed by No. 2 Lakeview against No. 7 Russell-Tyler-Ruthton at 2:30 p.m., and No. 3 Lac qui Parle Valley against No. 6 Wabasso at 4 p.m.

The upper-bracket semifinals will take place at 6 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 24 at SMSU, while the lower-bracket semis will follow at approximately 7:30 p.m. The championship will be held at 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28 at SMSU. Minneota is the defending Class A state champion.
