Minneota girls’ basketball stymies RCW, 81-23

Abby Hennen scored a game-high 22 points and had six steals as Minneota overwhelmed Renville County West 81-23 in a Camden Conference home game Thursday night. Hennen sank 9 of 14 shots from the floor, including a trio of three-pointers.

The Vikings, rated No. 1 in Class A, improved to 17-1 on the season. Natalee Rolbiecki added 17 points, seven rebounds and four steals for Minneota.

Abby Rost added nine points, four rebounds and three steals' McKenna Yost had nine points and six rebounds; and Kennedi Jurrens notched eight points, four rebounds and two steals.

Minneota shot well from the field, draining 29 of 65 shots (45 percent), including 6 of 12 from beyond the arc.

"We got an opportunity to work on some things with our zone offense which we haven't been able to do for a while," said Coach Chad Johnston.

"Things that we have spent some time working on in practice are starting to become more visible in games."

Minneota outrebounded the Jaguars 37-27 with Ireland Stassen sharing game-high honors with seven boards.

"We are getting a lot of players an opportunity to play," said Johnston.

"And we have some players contributing more and gaining more confidence."

Hannah Pharr led RCW with 10 points and six rebounds.
