Unbeaten Vikings extend win streak to 45 with balanced scoring

Minneota improved its winning streak to 45 games over portions of the past three season with a convincing 62-34 triumph over Southwest Minnesota Christian Friday night in Minneota.
The Vikings utilized a balanced scoring attack led by Natalee Rolbiecki with 17 points. McKenna Yost added 10 points, Ireland Stassen and Kenadi Arndt had nine apiece, Jeren Rost seven, Kennedi Jurrens six, and Megan Tolk and Grace Hennen two each.
That type of depth and versatility or blending the older players with the younger ones is what has made the Vikings a perennial state power.
The Vikings (2-0) started out a little ragged in this contest, turning the ball over nine times in the first half before settling down and playing their customary strong defense and a nearly unstoppable transition game.
Southwest Christian (1-1) came out strong and jumped out to a 4-0 lead with some scrappy defense and a couple of inside baskets by McKenna Moss.
Trailing 8-7, the Vikings went on an 11-0 run for an 18-8 lead they would not relinquish. During that run, Kenadi Arndt had four points and McKenna Yost drained a 3-pointer. Kennedi Jurrens and Jeren Rost had the other points.
Minneota then went on run, scoring 10 unanswered points early in the second half for a 46-22 advantage. Jurrens had four points in that run.
All 12 players saw action for the Vikings.
Makenna Moss paced Southwest Christian with eight points and Ana Veldkamp had seven.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Minneota improved to 3-0 this season by defeating Yellow Medicine East 83-56 on Tuesday night in Granite Falls. That also extended its winning streak to 46 straight. No other details were available at press time.
