Minneota/Canby concludes inaugural season

The Minneota/Canby Legion softball team completed its inaugural season recently, winning three of four league games.
This was the first year for Legion softball in Minnesota. Each district was responsible for setting up its own league, scheduling and sponsorship.
Minneota was joined by RCW/BOLD, MACCRAY, Lac qui Parle Valley, Montevideo, Murray County Central and Lakeview. Teams were comprised of players entering 9th through 12th grades this fall.
Minneota defeated Montevideo, RCW/BOLD and LQPV, while losing only to MCC. Minneota was unable to participate in the sub-state and state tournament due to a lack of players available on those dates.
"The girls got some valuable playing time and we had fun," said coach Heidi Boerboom. "I am hoping that we can do it gain next year and have enough girls to participate in the tournaments, too."
