Mudhens fall to Milroy Irish in opener

The Minneota Mudhens fell to the Milroy Irish 13-1 in the season opener last Wednesday at K.P. Kompelien Field in Minneota.
The Mudhens have 18 players on the roster this season and manager Tyson Sonnenburg noted that the team, wants to get everyone reps in these early-season games before Land O' Duck League play begins on Sunday, May 15 at home against the Appleton A's, which also is Root Beet Float Day at Kompelien Field.
The starters played six innings against the Irish before giving way to the reserve players. The Irish bats came alive late in the game and invoked the 10-run rule.
The Mudhens got a home run from AJ Myhre, a double from Sonnenburg, and singles by Alex Pohlen and Austin DeVlaeminck.
Danny Hennen worked the first four innings and allowed three runs. Myhre and Grady Moorse finished up.
The scheduled game against the Searles Grizzlies was rained out on Sunday.
The Mudhens will next take on the MIlroy Yankees Friday, May 13 in Milroy.
