Preston Nuy applied the tag at third but it was just a bit late and the Milroy runner was safe. But Nuy had four hits in the Mudhens 16-7 lashing of the Yankees on Sunday at Milroy.

Mudhens rip 20 hits in 16-7 win over Yankees

All Minneota wanted Sunday was a "warm-up" game before next Saturday's playoff opener with the Clinton Cards.
But instead of”warming up,” they went “red hot,” slammed 20 hits, used a seven-run first inning and beat the Milroy Yankees, 16-7 Sunday at Milroy.
"This was a big boost," said Manager Tyson Sonnenburg.
"This team was undefeated in their league. But our bats were flying. It's good to see this time of year."
The Mudhens battered Yankee starting pitcher Ryan Rohlik (also the Yankee manager) for seven hits in the first inning, including a double by Jordan Beck.
By the time Rohlik left the mound, he was trailing 8-4. But Milroy never recovered as the Mudhens battered three Yankee hurlers for 20 hits.
Preston Nuy had four hits, going 4-6 and Beau Buysse was 3-5 with a walk and he was safe on an error one other time. Both also played sparkling defense — Nuy at third and Buysse with some diving catches at second base.
“This was the first time we’ve beaten them, ever!” smiled Assistant Coach and second baseman Beau Buysse.
Minneota lost by a run, twice this year to the Yankees. But Sunday they got the win — in a big way.
Adam Durfee contributed three hits; Austin Buysse hit the ball hard four times and got two hits and Danny Hennen was 2-5 with a two-run double. He scored four runs. Beck was 2-5.
On the mound, Hennen was relieved after two innings. Henry Pesch came on to pitch three innings and get the win as Zach Nuy and Bryce Gorder pitched the final four innings for the Mudhens.
Uncharacteristically, the Yankees committed five errors. Minneota had three.
Once Minneota had the big lead, Beau Buysse said, “We knew no lead is big enough against a good ball team. But it was a good day and wew came through in situations and put the pressure on them,” Buysse said.
The big win came at a good time as the Mudhens waited to see who they would play in the Section 9C Playoffs starting Saturday at Madison.
“There is no better time than now (to have a big game,” said Sonnenburg.
Minneota is now 13-8 overall this year and will play at 5 p.m. Saturday at Madison against the Clinton Cards in their opening game of the Section 9C Tournament.
