Mudhens stun Morris; beat Rosen, 3-1

Friday a two-out single by Tyson Sonnenburg in the bottom of the 11th helped the Minneota Mudhens beat the Morris Eagles, 6-5 Friday night in Marshall.

After trailing 5-1 in the fourth, the Mudhens got a three-run home run from Adam Durfee as part of a four-run, eighth inning rally to tie the game at 5-5.

Zach Nuy relieved Danny Hennen in the eighth inning and pitched the rest of the way and picked up the win for Minneota.

Defensively, Minneota was brilliant. Beau Buysse made two game-saving plays, one in the 11th inning.

Jake Leighton had three hits; Sonnenburg two and he wa;lked three times and Durfee had the home run and a single.

Bryce Jergensen started and went 10 innings for the Eagles. Reliever Mac Beyer took the loss.

The game was played in Marshall because Minneota's lights are not working at this time.

Minneota got great pitching Sunday at home as Jake Leighton and Tommy Fischer combined to throw a two-hitter with nine strikeouts for a 3-1 win over the Rosen Express.

Fischer relieved Leighton in the eighth and struck out the side in the ninth.

Minneota trailed 1-0 going into the fourth, but rallied for three runs and that was all they would need.

Adam Durfee and Tyson Sonnenburg singled and Austin Buysse doubled them both home and Preston Nuy singled to center to score Buysse for the three Minneota runs.

Minneota got just six hits but played good defense.

They are now 5-2 on the year and will play the Marshall A's at Marshall at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday night.
