Mudhens top Hancock; extend win streak to 6

Danny Hennen struck out eight in hurling a complete game as the Minneota Mudhens stretched its win streak to six in a 5-1 victory over Hancock on Sunday.
Hennen scattered eight hits and walked just one. He recorded at least one strikeout in each of the first six innings. Hancock had runners on second and third with two outs in the first inning, but Hennen escaped unscathed by getting a strikeout to end the threat.
"Danny pitched really well, getting up in every count," said Mudhens player/manager Tyson Sonnenburg.
The lone run off Hennen in the seventh inning was unearned.
Meanwhile, Minneota (3-0 in the Land O' Ducks, 6-1 overall) had seven hits to go along with 13 walks and two hit batsmen.
"We left a lot of guys on base and missed some opportunities," said Sonnenburg. "But we had some key hits that secured the victory."
Alex Pohlen had two hits and drove in two runs to spark the Mudhens' offense.
Minneota scored its first run in the third inning on singles by Pohlen and Austin Buysse, and a run-scoring single by Ben Skorczewski.
In the sixth inning, the Mudhens took a 2-0 lead when Skorczewski doubled and scored on a single by Tate Walerius.
Leading 2-1, the Mudhens secured the win with a three-run eighth, highlighted by an RBI double by Austin DeVlaeminck an a two-run single by Pohlen.

Austin DeVlaeminck drove in four runs with a bases-clearing triple and a single and the Mudhens (5-1) won their fifth straight game.
DeVlaeminck's triple came in the fourth inning. AJ Myhre led off the inning by drawing a walk. With one out, Peyton Gillund singles. Tate Walerius was then hit by a pitch to load the bases. With two outs, DeVlaemicnk tripled for a 4-0 lead.
Pipestone came back with two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning when Myhre, the Mudhens' starter, encountered some control problems. With two outs, Jacob Hennen relieved and recorded the final out.
Hennen hurled 3 1/3 innings of relief for the win. He allowed one hit and one unearned run, while walking none and striking out four. Ryan Dalager made his Mudhens' debut and tossed two hitless innings, striking out five batters and walking one.
The Mudhens had only six hits, but utilized three walks, four hit batsmen and five errors. All four runs they scored in the seventh inning were unearned as Pipestone had two errors to go along with a walk and a hit batsmen.
DeVlaeminck and Ben Skorczewski had two hits apiece, and Sonnenburg and Gillund had the other two hits.
