Seven-run third sparks Vultures

Larson tosses 4-hitter with 7 strikeouts in 8-1 win over Worthington

Brody Larson tossed a four-hitter and struck out seven as Minneota defeated Worthington 8-1 Tuesday in Minneota.
"Great pitching by Brody," said Vultures' coach J.D. Pesch. "We're very happy with him going into playoffs."
The Vultures had six hits. Carson Javers went 2-for-4 in the leadoff role, including a double, two RBI and three stolen bases.
Adam Dalager had a double and drove in three runs. Other Minneota hits were by Larson, Ryan Meagher and Joey Lacek. Larson and Meagher also drove in runs.
"We had very good timely hits tonight with runners in scoring position," said Pesch.
Cade Grimmius took the loss for Worthington, which committed three errors.
"We've worked a lot on bunt defense this summer and it paid off tonight," Pesch noted. "Worthington laid down four bunts in the game and we successfully put out all of them."

Marshall pitcher Owen Kesteloot stymied Minneota, allowing only three hits while striking out 12.
Carson Javers, in his first game as the Vultures' leadoff hitter, went 2-for-3. He singled in both the first and third innings. Parker Bradley had the other hit for Minneota, a bunt single in the fifth inning.
"It is always a good experience playing Marshall," said Vultures coach J.D. Pesch. "They play the game very well and make very few mistakes."
Minneota, normally a steady fielding team, had a tough time defensively against Marshall, committing five errors.
"We had a few mental errors and physical errors," Pesch noted. "We always tell the boys that there will be a few physical errors in each game, but we can and need to clean up the mental errors."
Ryan Dalager started for Minneota and took the loss, although he allowed only four hits and four runs, while walking two and striking out seven in 5 2/3 innings. Ryan Meagher finished.
Kesteloot and Josh Kraft had two hits apiece for Marshall.
