SW Christian halts Vikings’ win streak
Southwest Minnesota Christian (19-5) jumped out to a 12-0 lead and went on to end Minneota's eight-game winning streak with a 62-49 triumph Thursday night in Edgerton.
Madyson Fey paced the Eagle with 18 points, while Kinsie Nelson had 16 points and Ana Veldkamp 12. The Eagles shot a robust 47 percent from the field.
Ireland Stassen had four triples on her way to a game-high 19 points and eight rebounds for the Vikings (16-6). Kenadi Arndt notched nine points, Dakoda Hennen seven and Faith Myhre six. The Vikings shot 35 percent overall from the floor.
The Vikings were unable to recover from the early 12-0 deficit despite playing the Eagles even the rest of the way. Minneota closed within 38-31 in the second half before SW Christian went on an 8-0 run for a 46-31 lead The Vikings whittled the deficit to a single digit at 46-37 but would get no closer.
