Two-time state champ back for C/M

Drietz leads senior-dominated team that hasn't lost Camden meet in 6 years

Grace Drietz, the reigning 800 and 1,600 state champion, leads a senior-dominated Canby/Minneota girls track team.
Aidyn Bruns placed at state last year in the high jump, while RyAnn Hansen was a member of the 4 x 200 and 4 x 400 relays teams that qualified for state last year.
"The girls team returns many talented athletes," said coach Sara Hemish.
The other seniors on the teams include Natalie Bach, Delaney Houseman, Mackenzie Janiszeski and Elysa Wollum.
"Each of these girls have played an important role on our team and hope to defend their (Camden) conference title again this year," Hemish said. "If that happens, they will have gone undefeated at the conference meets from grades 7-12. The majority of these senior girls competed for us since seventh grade."
Other top returns for the Canby/Minneota team this year include two other state 4 x 400 relay members, Braelyn Merritt and Claire Stoks.
"Our goal is to repeat as Camden Conference champs and get back to the True Team state meet," said Hemish.
Hemish is assisted this year by Tony Ourada, Jeremy Stoks, Paul Bruns and Brandon Berndt.
