Vikings foiled by RTR again, 69-44

Minneota fell behind by 18 points early and was unable to recover as Russell-Tyler-Ruthton prevailed 69-44 on Friday night in Ivanhoe to sweep the two-game season series.
The game was considered a home game for Minneota. The Minneota girls also played a home game in Ivanhoe earlier this season.
The Vikings (4-17) fell behind 24-6 to start the game, but outscored the Knights 19-14 the rest of the first half to close within 38-25 at halftime.
RTR was able to fend off the Vikings by outshooting them 51 percent to 35 and outrebounding them by 10.
Cale Sorensen paced the Vikings with 17 points, 12 rebounds, four steals, three assists and three blocked shots. It was the senior forward's fifth double-double of the season.
Max Rost, who made both Minneota three-pointers, had 13 points and three steals. No one else had more than four points.
For RTR (16-5), which also beat Minneota 67-38 on Dec. 21 in Tyler, got 20 points and nine rebounds from Drew Werkman. Aiden Wichmann cashed a trio of three-pointers and finished with 14 points and three assists. Blake Christianson and Darrick Baartman had eight points apiece.

Isaac Kronbeck, a 6-5 senior guard, pumped in a game-high 30 points to lead the Rabbits. Kronbeck made 12 of 16 shots from the field and all five of his free throw attempts.
The undermanned Vikings (4-16) had their best night of the season shooting from beyond the arc, making 43 percent of their three-point attempts (9 of 21). Cale Sorensen, who paced Minneota with 26 points, sank five of the team's three-pointers.
Peyton Sheik finished with 13 points, including a three-pointer. Max Rost had eight points, including a pair of treys. Anthony Rybinski added five points, Ryan Dalager and Garet DeBoer had four points apiece, and Sawyer DeSmet chipped in three points.
Wabasso shot a sizzling 55 percent of its shot from the field. Noah Anderson and Jayden Goblish had 10 points apiece, while Karson Bock and Samuel Fenger had nine points each.
