Vikings nipped by YME, 58-56
In a thrilling game in which Minneota had its best shooting night of the season but fell just shot in a 58-56 loss to Yellow Medicine East last Thursday in Granite Falls.
The Sting bolted to a 12-2 lead before the Vikings (4-12) fought back and eventually tied the game, 42-42.
Nik Knapper then snapped the cords from three-point range for a 45-42 that the Sting would not relinquish.
Trailing 57-56 late in the game, Minneota intentionally fouled Knapper, who sank one of two free throws for the final margin. The Vikings were unable to sink a final shot.
Bryce Sneller had 25 points to lead all scorers. Knapper chipped in 12 points.
Senior wing Cale Sorensen had a team-high 16 points for the Vikings. Sophomore guard Ryan Dalager had a career-high 15 point, including three treys. Sophomore guard Max Rost had 13 points and junior forward Garet DeBoer added eight points.
