Minneota seventh-grader Cael Fier earned his first varsity pin last Thursday. Fier pinned his Fulda/Murray County Central opponent in 5:20 in his 120-pound match in the Minneota Triangular.

Vikings slowly getting healthy; win 3

In the Wabasso Duals that featured several ranked teams, Minneota won one of three matches.
The Class A No. 9-ranked Vikings, still missing all of their wrestlers due to injuries and working themselves back into shape, defeated Adrian 54-18, but fell to Class AA Zumbrota-Mazeppa 37-34 and to No. 8-ranked Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City 42-31.
Adam DaVlaeminck won all three of his matches at 106 and 113 pounds. Jonah Gruenes, the lone unbeaten wrestler for the Vikings this season, also went 3-0 at 170 and 182.
Others finishing .500-or-better on the day were: Peyton Gillund (2-1) at 120 and 126, Troy VanKeulen (2-1) at 126 and 132, Destin Fier (2-0) at 132, Kade Lozinski (2-1) at 138 and 145, Jackson Esping (1-0) at 285, and Jayden Gamrak (1-1) at 285.

Although still missing a few key wrestlers in its lineup, Minneota is slowly getting its full team together.
The Vikings flexed their muscles on Thursday in their home triangular, whipping Redwood Valley 62-18 and Fulda/Murray County Central 70-6, losing only five of 26 individual matches on the day, including one forfeit.
Peyton Gillund pinned both of his opponents in the first period at 126 pounds. Kade Lozinski also had a pair of pins at 138 pounds, as did Hudson Scholten at 220 pounds.
Others going 2-0 on the day were Adam DeVlaeminck at 106, Troy Van Keulen at 132, Eli Gruenes at 152, Jonah Gruenes at 170 and 182, and Conner Sik at 195.
Destin Fier, Brock Fier and Jackson Esping all returned to the lineup and each wrestled one of the two matches and earned falls. Cael Fier had a pin at 120 pounds in the FMCC match.
