Vikings steamroll LQPV, 68-0

Outgain Eagles 563-58; seven different players scored touchdowns

Like an unpopular uncle at a Thanksgiving meal, Minneota didn't make a very good guest on Friday night.
The Vikings (3-0) trampled down the grass in Lac qui Parle Valley's end zone 10 times en route to a 68-0 triumph at Madison.
Minneota scored its first three touchdowns in less than 10 minutes and ended up scoring seven times in the first half alone.
Zack Fier, who had 78 yards and three touchdowns rushing in seven carries, scored the first two touchdowns for the Vikings from 9 and 11 yards out for a 14-0 lead.
Twelve players got at least one carry in the game and all gained at least six yards.
Peyton Gillund, who was 6-for-6 in extra-point conversion kicks, then caught an 11-yard touchdown pass from Isaac Pohlen to make it 21-0.
Destin Fier's one-yard TD run gave the Vikings a 28-0 lead after the first quarter.
Lac qui Parle Valley only crossed midfield one time in the game. After a 23-yard kickoff return gave the Eagles the ball at their own 48, a short pass five-yard pass brought the ball to the Minneota 47. That was as far as the Eagles would get following a third-and-five incompletion and a punt.
In the second quarter, Lucas Rybinski scored from a yard out, Zack Fier reached the end zone from 13 yards away, and Gillund caught his second TD pass from Pohlen, this time from three yards out for a 48-0 halftime lead.
Pohlen had another strong game behind center, completing 12 of 17 passes for 202 yards and two touchdowns. Backup Ryan Dalager also played well, completing 3 of 5 passes for 25 yards and one TD.
The three second-half touchdowns came when Dalager connected with Jack Lacek from eight yards out in the left corner of the end zone. Peyton Sheik's extra-point kick gave the Vikings a 55-0 lead.
On Minneota's next possession, Joey Lacek scampered 50 yards down the left sidelines for a score.
Brock Fier capped the scoring with a 33-yard run in the fourth quarter.
The Vikings never punted in the game.
It wasn't just the offense that dominated the line of scrimmage, The defense was just a stellar. The Vikings finished with 25 first downs and 562 total yards, including 335 rushing yards and 227 through the air. The Eagles were limited to just three first downs and 58 total yards, including 19 rushing attempts for nine yards.
The Vikings take on the Lakeview Lakers on Thursday, Sept. 22 in a Little Sioux Conference game at K.P. Kompelien Field in Minneota.
