Vikings top Adrian with 14-hit attack
Ava Larson and Madison Hennen combined on a four-hitter as Minneota/Canby defeated Adrian 9-2 on Monday in Ellsworth.
Faith Myhre led a 14-hit attack, going 3-for-5, including a triple, and driving in three runs. Tessah Overgaard doubled and tripled in five at bats and knocked in a run.
Madison Hennen and AshleeAnn Cole had two hits apiece and each drove in a run.
Minneota/Canby (9-5) scored five of its runs in the third inning, getting run-scoring singles in the inning from Overgaard, Myhre, Madison Hennen and Dakota Pesch.
Larson pitched the first four innings for the win. She gave up two hits and one run, while walking three and striking out two. Madison Hennen tossed the final three innings, allowing two hits and one run, while walking one and fanning three.

Senior Grace Collins tossed a two-hitter with 12 strikeouts and the Fighting Saints scored the lone run of the game in the seventh inning.
Ava Larson hurled the first six innings and shut down the Fighting Saints on only three hits. She walked three and struck out four. Madison Hennen pitched the seventh and hit one batter, who came around to score the eventual winning run on a stolen base and an error. Hennen walked none and struck out two.
Faith Myhre singled in the first inning for the Vikings, while Madison Hennen singled in the seventh for the other Minneota/Canby hit.
