Vikings win 5A football crown; no state tourney

Minneota defeated BOLD 14-7 to capture the Section 5A football title on Friday night at K.P. Kompelien Field in Minneota.
Because of the recent governor's executive order to temporarily shut down all high school sporting events, the season ended there, meaning there will be no state football tournament played this year.
Minneota was originally scheduled to play in the 5A semifinals against Lac qui Parle Valley on Saturday, but since there was only time for one more game to be played before the shutdown, section representatives decided to have top-seeded Minneota play No. 2 BOLD in the championship.
Minneota finished the season with a perfect 8-0 record.
The Minneota volleyball team finished the season 13-1, defeated Class 3A Willmar on Thursday night and then fell to Waterville-Elysian-Morristown on Friday in a rematch of last season's state championship that was won by the Vikings.
