Day Care kids painting, hiding rocks in Ghent

The Day Care kids in Ghent are having fun painting rocks.
Their caregivers are having fun hiding them.
And the Community of Ghent is having a ball looking for them.
And what does it all add up to? ... a lot of fun, for sure — and cash for others.
What started out as a way to keep kids in the Ghent Day Cares busy, has turned into a game they played last year and are playing again this year.
“The kids are painting the rocks, we hide them around Ghent and it gives the residents something to do while they’re walking around,” said Jo Schroepfer of JoJo’s Day Care.
She joined up with three other day cares and together they’re taking the Community of Ghent by storm and creating a lot of fun for the kids.
By putting a little cash into the pockets of those who find specified rocks, it’s become somewhat of a treasure hunt as well.
“There are two rocks out now worth money. One with a caterpillar on it is worth $40. The other has a tractor on the rock. On the back it tells you how to cash them in,” said Schroepfer.
“For July, we put out another rock sponsored by the Lyon County Farm Service for $25 and another will be put out in August and sponsored by Farmers Cooperative Association.”
"If you find a rock (worth money) take it to KB’s Bar and Grill and have your picture taken and you’ll get a prize,” added Schroepfer.
There have been about 150 of the rocks hidden around the community.
“If you find one of them not worth money, put it back and give others the chance to find them,” Schroepfer said.
While it’s all fun and games for everyone, perhaps the kids are the biggest winners of all.
Some get buried in paint and have a ball doing it.
One of those was Hazel Hammer, who seemed to be enjoying paint all over herself.
Others like Liam Hennen, Titan Fier, Hudson Hjetmstad and Dylan Remme got a big kick out of painting the rocks and getting them to be hid.
Hey, it’s not “rocket science,” but it’s a whole lot of fun for everyone.
Enjoy Ghent!!!!
