Those of you who have not seen the renovated gymnasium at Minneota High School are in for a real treat. Without giving away any of secrets, let me just say it’s spectacular and most Minneota Viking fans will feel like they are in a whole new building.

Some of the old familiar “murals” are gone — but are replaced by some nice new ones. The changes at the Minneota Public School continue to be “knockout spectacular.”

Although they’re not finished yet, the elementary school changes are going to make kids feel like they got dropped off at the wrong school.

Add in the changes made on the high school earlier and you’ve got a change that’s sort of like Jekyll and Hyde.

Got to say I don’t miss the old bathrooms across from the competition gym. Those were tough to take.

And the bathroom facilities in the elementary school were ... shall we say ... something to avoid!

Lighting was never very good and now is becoming fantastic. Windows, ventilation, doors — they’re all getting a brand new look.

When you think about it — Minneota has long had excellent athletic teams.

Then, a few years ago a new emphasis was put on education and the scores have been rising dramatically ... teachers get a lot of credit for that because they’ve accepted the changes and thrown their bodies and souls into a new brand of education. It’s been a startling “makeover” in the education department.

And now the school building is getting its own face-lift and is going to be a remarkable facility.

What’s nice about all this is the fact this “new Minneota school” has been built by the administration, the school board, the teachers and staff and even the kids. It’s a remarkable transformation and it’s made Minneota schools even stronger than ever before.

Oh, and let’s not forget the fact Ivanhoe now sends many of their kids to Minneota to be educated. And they’ve added greatly to a much better school district.

LAUGH A LITTLE: Run fast! A man asks a farmer near a field, “Sorry sir, would you mind if I crossed your field instead of going around it? You see, I have to catch the 4:23 train.” The farmer says, “Sure, go right ahead. And if my bull sees you, you’ll even catch the 4:11 one.”
