Ghent is billed as the “Rolle Bolle Capital of the World”. Participants come from all over the United States and Canada.

Belgian-American Days slated for Aug. 4-6 in Ghent

Rolle Bolle tourney, car show, parade among many events

Billed as the "Rolle Bolle Capital of the World", the courts in Ghent have been getting good use lately as individuals are practicing for the annual Belgian-American Days event on Aug. 4-6.
Belgian-American Days isn't just about Rolle Bolle, though. The three-day event features something for all ages such as a car show, games, contests, music, food, parade and much more.
Another new event the B-A committee would like to include this year is a pickle ball tournament. To make this happen, however, they need volunteers to help run the tournament, as well as participants. Anyone interested in helping can contact City Administrator Dawn Vlaminck at dawn@ghentmn.com or call 507-428-3214.
On Wednesday evening, Aug. 2, KB's Bar & Grill is hosting a Traveling Trivia contest as part of B-A Days.
The popular .05k race set for Friday, Aug. 4 is set with this year's theme called "Life is Better on the Farm." As in the past, participants are urged to dress to fit the theme.
"We are encouraging folks to start digging out their favorite farmer clothes and join us," said Vlaminck. "We have invited Mario Callens to provide music for swing dancing at the finish line. We will have swing dancing and line dancing demonstrations for everyone who wants to learn and join in. The 17th annual Ghent Cruisers Car Show is another popular event that draws many participants and onlookers. The car show is featuring "Jeeps/Willys" this year. To register or for more information, call 507-428-3504 or visit the Ghent Cruisers Facebook page.
The Rolle Bolle Tournament will be held on Saturday with several divisions. Participants come from all over the state and beyond. Some have even made the trip from Canada to play.
There will also be a bean bag tournament, Belgian cookie making demonstration, coronation, pedal tractor pull, petting zoo, inflatables and more.
Belgian-American Days 2023 shirts are on sale at the AgPlus C-Store and KB's Bar & Grill.
The parade will be held on Saturday, Aug. 5. More entries are sought for the parade. Contact chassidy.deroode@gmail.com if you would like to have an entry.
