Kindred Spirits returns to Opera Hall on May 14
It's never a bad thing when you combine music and food on Mother's Day.
Kindred Spirits will be returning to the Minneota Opera Hall from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, May 14. The group, which features Emily Hoffmann, Darwin Dyce and Pete Lothringer, last performed at the Opera Hall on April 24, 2022.
Kindred Spirit's music centers around blues and jazz.
Lothringer’s rich guitar chords and rhythm provide the foundation for Hoffmann’s voice to add a layer of lyrical melody, while Dyce weaves in and out improvising on the flute.
Lothringer has a diverse musical background that includes performer, composer, music theory and guitar instructor. He was also a drummer in a band for several years.
Hoffmann, who is Dyce's daughter, had early vocal experience touring with the Minnesota All State Lutheran Choir. She performed with jazz and concert choirs in college. Upon returning to Minneota, she has sung with Route 68 and the Prairie Arts Chorale.
Dyce has been playing the flute for many years. Previously, he played trumpet for 20 years with the Route 68 band.
Also performing that day will be Minneota students Amadeus and Adele Molina, eighth- and sixth-grade Minneota students, respectively, who are state contest piano players. They will each be playing at the Honor's Concert on June 3 at the Minneapolis Convention Center.
And while audience members celebrating Mother's Day are listening to the musical entertainment, they can also check out the locally-produced foods from Redwood River Farms and Annabel's Eggs that will be located on tables in the back of the room.
Redwood River Farms is a fourth-generation Marshall farm that has been in the Deutz family since 1920 located in Marshall. Annabel Couldron, 15, started Annabel's Eggs six years ago. She started with six hens and now has 128 chickens and 11 ducks. One of her hens will be on hand at the Opera Hall.
