Rain ... in buckets ... More expected???

This may be one of those, “Be careful what you wish for,” things. “We could use some rain,” was the banter going on last week.

Sunday night into Monday the Minneota Area was blessed with rain somewhere in the vicinity of up to and even exceeding four inches of rain. It came down hard and quickly.

“Amazing what can happen in the span of minutes,” one resident said.

“I couldn’t believe the water on the golf course,” said Brandon Hennen, who helped unplug areas holding back the flow of water.

Others were caught in the storm on Highway 23 Sunday night and a long line of drivers had to pull over.

Oh, more is expected this week!

A single swan swam behind the reeds at the Countryside Golf Course.

It must have seemed like a gift from the gods for the waterfowl.

Geese enjoyed the new water at the Moorse farm on Highway 68 northeast of Minneota on Monday morning.

The field was inundated by the sudden downpour of four inches or more of rain on Sunday night into Monday.

The golf course was flooded, as were many area fields. It had been drier and most area farmers wanted and needed a nice, small rain.

But it was the rate at which this came down that startled everyone.

But it was a good day for the waterfowl of the area.
