Roth interning with police department

Connor Roth, who will be in his second year of Law Enforcement at Alexandria Technical Institute this fall, is currently interning with the Minneota Police Department.
Roth, the son of Al and Mary Roth of Marshall, took it upon himself to learn more about law enforcement this summer.
"It's not required by the school," he said. "It was just something I wanted to do so I could learn the ropes."
Roth, a 2020 Marshall High School graduate, is getting an education from Minneota Police Chief Bill Bolt.
"I've learned a lot from him," said Roth. "I learn something new every day."
Currently, Roth is observing Bolt but will likely be going on calls with him if and when the time arises.
Roth, who also works for Slumberland in Marshall, has worked with Bolt for five days as of this past Tuesday.
During a time when protestors are calling for defunding police, we wondered what prompted Roth to want to go into the law enforcement field.
"I asked myself that question, too," he admitted. "I just want to give back to the community and help people. I like to help others."
Roth will return to school on Aug. 3, but is undecided as to what field of law enforcement he wants to be involved with.
