It’s hard not to get in the holiday spirit when attending the second annual “Light up the Night” at Independence Park in Marshall.

“Light up the Night,” which is sponsored by Prairie Home Hospice and Community Care in partnership with Holy Redeemer Church of Marshall, the Community, and the City of Marshall, is a spectacular winter wonderland of colored lights that included a myriad of holiday activities for all ages.

This year’s “Light up the Night” event, will take place from 5-10 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from Nov. 30-Dec. 30. It kicks off with on Nov. 30 from 4-7 p.m. with downtown businesses offering “dazzling deals”.

There will be a Light up the Night downtown parade at 6 p.m., with fireworks at Independence Park at 10 p.m. Santa and his elves will be on hand with various activities being held on each of the nights.

Some of those activities include live music, horse-drawn carriage rides, hay rides, holiday carolers, holiday concessions, ice skating, sledding, pond hockey, ice fishing contest, snowman building contest, candy cane hunt, outdoor Christmas movie, raffle, and much more.

And there will even be a fire for you to warm up by if you get cold. The Marshall Area Stage Company will hold two performances of “The Grinch,” at 5:30 and 7 p.m. on Dec. 16.

The event is by free-will donation with the proceeds going to Prairie Home Hospice and Holy Redeemer Church. For a complete list of activities and the nights they will be held, visit the Prairie Home Hospice and community Care website at www.prairiehomehospice.org.
