Teachers enjoy fun in the sun
Those 40 teachers that you might have seen motoring around town in golf carts last week weren't looking for the golf course. They were participating in a scavenger hunt designed by the public school administration as a bonding pre-cursor before school began on Monday.
Ten teams of four teachers participated in the scavenger hunt. The goal was to find all 14 clues and then take a selfie of your team to show you had completed the hunt.
Superintendent Scott Monson, High School Principal Heather Anderson, and Elementary Principal Jen Mahan-Deitte put their heads together and decided on the scavenger hunt.
"We wanted the teachers to have some fun at the end of summer," explained Anderson. "It was kind of a way for them to bond, too."
The golf carts were loaned to the teams from various members of the community to use for the scavenger hunt.
Each team was given a different starting clue and they had to find all 14 clues at various locations throughout town. Each time they located the correct location, they would open the envelope with their team's name on it and read the next clue.
Only one team found all 14 clues and earned a prize.
"Some teams found the last envelope that said to take the selfie, but they didn't find all 14 clues," Anderson said. "Some found envelopes at a business, but it wasn't in the right order to they weren't able to find all of the envelopes with clues in them."
The Mascot was one of the location spots that for the team's envelopes that contained the clues to the next location. One of clues that led to the Mascot was "Look for the journalism teacher in Room 201, which referenced the newspaper and the address the Mascot is located (201 Jefferson Street).
"It was so fun to see so many people smiling and laughing," Anderson noted.
