Recycle your old holiday lights, cords

The holiday season is officially upon us. For many of us that means donning the house, porch, shrubs, and trees with holiday lights. When your old lights do not turn on, there is a solution.

Santa’s environmentally friendly helpers at the The Canby DAC announce the annual launch of collecting your non-working holiday lights and any cords for recycling.

In the past years, Minneota has done an awesome job to recycle the lights and cords!

The Canby DAC will collect the lights with our partner, Gislason ACE Hardware, and our clients will separate the bulbs from the wires for environmentally safe recycling.

So let’s all work to get the word out to friends and family, co-workers and others to recycle those lights. This is a win-win-win program.

Valuable recyclables are kept out of the landfill and the program provides meaningful employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities at the Canby DAC.

The program runs until January 31, 2019, but the Canby DAC accepts lights and cords year around. We recycle all cords, including appliance, computer, cell phone charger, telephone, extension, etc.

So, check around your homes, garages, barns, outbuildings, and businesses!
