Timmerman to present nostalgic look at Lake Shetek on May 12

Janet Timmerman will present, “Halcyon Days: Leisure at Lake Shetek” at the Lyon County Museum at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 12.
“Halcyon Days: Leisure at Lake Shetek” interweaves the rich tapestry of leisure history with the environmental realities of a prairie lake. It offers a compelling exploration of both nostalgia and the evolving landscape of Lake Shetek, inviting readers to ponder the delicate balance between preservation and progress.
Timmerman has spent much of her life in Murray County. She is a graduate of Southwest Minnesota State University and holds a Master’s degree in history from Kansas State University. She has helped produce several publications about rural areas including Draining the Great Oasis: An Environmental History of Murray County, Little by Little: The History of End-O-Line Railroad Park and Museum, and SSLRH essay series chapbooks, “Draining the Great Oasis,” and “Red Earth, White Road: The Joseph Laframboise Family in the U.S. Dakota War of 1862.”
